If you want to see all of Sri Lanka's contrasts in one trip, this is the route. After a gentle first night by the sea at Negombo, the journey loops through the ancient cities of the Cultural Triangle, climbs into Kandy and the tea country, and rides the famous train to Ella.
From the hills it drops to the plains of Yala for a leopard safari, then follows the south coast through Mirissa and Galle before a final afternoon in Colombo. The pace is steady rather than rushed, with your own driver-guide handling every transfer — and every day can be changed to suit you.

Day 1 · Airport → Negombo
A short transfer from the airport to a beach hotel in Negombo, with nothing planned but rest after your flight.

Day 2 · Negombo → Dambulla → Sigiriya
Inland to the Cultural Triangle, stopping at Dambulla's cave temples before a sunset climb of Pidurangala.

Day 3 · Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
An early climb of Sigiriya, then the afternoon among the ruins of Polonnaruwa. From July to September, an elephant safari at Minneriya can replace Polonnaruwa.

Day 4 · Sigiriya → Kandy
